None other than Britain’s favourite time-travelling doctor used Caerphilly Castle as a filming location for an episode from series 9 of Doctor Who starring Peter Capaldi. This 13th century fortress is the second largest in Britain, complete with gatehouses, defences and atmospheric halls. We’re not sure you’ll see any sonic screwdrivers lying around though! Worcestershire’s Severn Valley Railway played most recently played a role in the hit Netflix 2023 film Enola Holmes with locomotive No. 2857 taking the limelight in the Sherlock Holmes ‘spin-off’.
