The Bluecoat
The Bluecoat is the oldest building in Liverpool City centre, a Grade I listed building and former school now serving as a centre for contemporary art with delightful independent shops, a secret garden and a cafe. The building itself is an example of gorgeous Georgian architecture, dating back to 1717.
The Bluecoat now functions as a vibrant arts centre, showcasing a wide range of contemporary art exhibitions, performances, and events throughout the year. As well as this, it plays host to a variety of exciting workshops and creative classes, offering visitors the opportunity to learn new skills and techniques in a comfortable and supportive environment.
In addition to its contemporary art offering, The Bluecoat also has a rich cultural and historical heritage. Over the years, it has been home to many famous artists and writers, including the poet Roger McGough, and was also a meeting place for the Liverpool poets back in the 1960s.
Sefton Park and Palm House
A truly magical 235 acre park and a Grade I listed park in the Sefton Park district of Liverpool, Sefton Park is a Green Flag and Green Heritage awarded site with beautiful features, as well as a number of historic monuments and sculptures.
When visiting Sefton Park, be sure to stop by the beautiful Palm House . Originally built in 1896, Palm House has recently undergone extensive restoration and now shines once again as a stunning Victorian glasshouse and home to a variety of exotic plants from around the world.
Palm House hosts a selection of events throughout the year, such as a craft club, a Beatles tribute band, a flower crown workshop, and plenty more, making it the perfect place to get crafty and enjoy something a little more hands-on during your city break.
Sefton Park also hosts the Liverpool Food and Drink Festival and the International Music Festival, so there is truly always something exciting going on, no matter what time of year you visit.
Liverpool Cathedral
Liverpool Cathedral is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city and a must-visit destination when visiting vibrant Liverpool. The cathedral was built in the early 20th century, with construction beginning in 1904 and finally being completed in 1978.
It is the largest cathedral in the UK and one of the largest in the world, with striking Gothic Revival architecture and a beautiful bell tower.
When visiting Liverpool Cathedral , remark at its grand interiors, adorned with beautiful stained-glass windows, intricate carvings, and incredible works of art. The cathedral also houses a number of historic monuments and memorials, including the Lady Chapel, which is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and the Great West Window, with a depiction of the Second Coming of Christ.

The Beatles Story
For music lovers, visit the museum dedicated to one of the world’s most famous bands: The Beatles. The Beatles Story is a museum and world-renowned visitor attraction in Liverpool that tells the story of the famous band, recounting what exactly made them one of the most successful and influential music groups in history.
The attraction is housed on the historic Albert Dock, providing a fascinating and immersive experience that explores the history of The Beatles and their impact on the music industry and popular culture.
You’ll see a range of exhibitions, memorabilia, and interactive displays that spotlight the band's rise to fame, their iconic music, and of course, their huge cultural influence.
The attraction also includes recreations of important locations from the Beatles' history, such as the Cavern Club, where the band played many of their early shows.
Spend time in the Discovery Zone, an interactive space that offers the opportunity to try out different musical instruments, create your own music, and learn more about the Beatles' creative process and songwriting techniques. An absolute must for the musically-inclined.
Royal Albert Dock
The Royal Albert Dock is another one of Liverpool’s most famous sights. The dock originally opened in 1846 and was an important industrial port in the 19th and early 20th centuries, handling goods such as tea, sugar, and cotton. However, as shipping methods changed, the dockyard became obsolete and was eventually closed in 1972.
In the 1980s, the Royal Albert Dock was redeveloped and has since been transformed into a vibrant cultural and entertainment hub, with a selection of museums, galleries, and restaurants opening on the site. Today you’ll find plenty to do at the famous dock, including the famous Tate Liverpool with modern and contemporary art showcased. And of course, the aforementioned Beatles Story.
From the dock you can also enjoy a boat tour of the River Mersey, grab some food or a glass of something delicious, and have a comfortable respite from the excitement of the city centre!
Cavern Club
Another must see for music lovers and Beatles fans is The Cavern Club . The Cavern Club is a legendary music venue, world famous as the place where the Beatles first rose to fame in the early 1960s. The club originally opened in 1957 as a jazz venue, but it soon became a centre for the emerging rock and roll scene in Liverpool.
Today, The Cavern Club is brimming with culture, art and entertainment, perfect for an evening visit. The club has been rebuilt several times since its original opening, but it still retains its iconic atmosphere and jovial spirit. Live music performances take place every day of the week, showcasing the best of the local Liverpool music scene.
